Prices

Our firm is subject to the Norwegian Bar Association’s code of ethics for lawyers and, in consumer matters, to the Norwegian Competition Authority’s Regulations governing information on the price of services.

The fee for our work will mainly depend on the time we spend on the case. Our hourly rate varies from NOK 1,000 to NOK 1,500 plus VAT, depending on the nature and complexity of the case. In some cases, the way in which the case is carried out and the case’s outcome may affect the final bill. The hourly rate will be agreed on at the start of each assignment. In simple, tidy cases, we will be able to state a fixed price in advance. Outlays in the case, such as court fees, etc, are payable in addition.

In criminal cases where an indictment has been issued, the legal fees will usually be paid by the public authorities. This is always the case when a person is remanded in custody.

If a person is granted legal aid, the public authorities will cover all or most of the legal costs. This applies to certain types of cases and to clients whose income or assets do not exceed a certain level.

In some cases, the client’s insurance company will pay for most of the legal fees under a so-called legal protection cover in the client’s insurance contract. This is included in most house insurances, as well as in a number of other types of insurances relating to special factors, such as automobile and travel insurance, etc.

When we accept an assignment, we issue a confirmation of this. In cases where we have been appointed by the court, the assignment starts when the court appoints us.
